Our Awesome Teachers

Our teachers are a diverse, well-trained group committed to staying well-informed with the latest discoveries in early childhood education. Teachers regularly attend training seminars and conferences and have education and experience exceeding state licensing requirements. Our teachers utilize this knowledge when developing innovative curriculum tailored to their classrooms and ensuring excellent quality of care for our children.

Here at ABC we believe the quality of your child’s learning starts with developing exciting and innovative curriculum; this is where Ms. Nikki comes in. After owning her own in-home childcare center for 15 years and holding several different teaching positions, Ms. Nikki joined our team in the beginning of 2013. She has her AA in Early Childhood Education and over 20 years of valuable child care experience and curriculum planning. Through supporting and educating our teachers in early childhood curriculum planning and implementation, Ms. Nikki has been a huge asset at ABC. In her free time, Ms. Nikki enjoys spending time with her family.

27Office Manager -Mertriss Chapel

As the Office Manager at ABC Children’s Center, Mrs. Mertriss’s smile serves as a warm welcome to all who enter our facility. If there is anything you need regarding billing or questions related to ABC ,she will ensure your questions are answered and taken care of in a timely, professional manner. Mertriss has worked in Early Childhood Education for over 9 years and is currently pursuing a Masters of Social Work at the University of Washington Tacoma, where she also obtained a BA in Social Work . Her past times include spending time with her husband and two boys and teaching weekly Dance Fitness classes at the YMCA.

As the owner of ABC Children’s Center for over 8 years, Jim hopes to provide a safe, caring, and learning atmosphere for the children in our community. By supporting our staff and teachers, Jim continues to successfully achieve these goals. Jim and his wife Ruthann live in University Place and are active volunteers in their community. He attended high school at Roosevelt in Seattle and higher education stops include the University of Wisconsin and Cornell University in New York. Jim’s hobbies include breeding and developing high quality Holstein cows.
